a. Evolution of Big Data technologies

b. Characteristics of Big Data and the six Vs: Volume, Variety, Velocity, Veracity, Valence and Volume

c. Introduction to Data Science and how it helps in getting value out of Big Data

d. Big Data use cases such as fraud prevention, security intelligence, price optimization, recommendation engines, preventive maintenance and operational efficiency

e. Foundations for Big Data Systems and Programming including Distributed File Systems, scalable computing, cloud computing and cloud service models

Combine data from different sources of different types (static distributed dataset, streaming data, SQL or NoSQL storage) on Big Data platforms such as Hadoop. Using this combined data, build a predictive model (e.g., for a financial market) using tools such as Spark.
